Yesterday was my birthday, WOOT!  Suffices to say I am old and it was just another day except… Kelly and I went out to dinner at our favorite place, Orlando’s.  It is located in Yarinacocha about 10 minutes from our house.  We used to go there as a family when we were all living in Peru.  Last time we did that I think there we had around 15 people.

If you visit Pucallpa, Orlando’s is one of those can’t miss kind of places.  They serve the best BBQ and smoked meats you will ever taste, even the Southern United States!  We usually get a sample platter that includes generous portions.  The best part of dinner has to be the Aji.  If you have ever been to Peru, you will understand. I have tried a few hundred different  types of Aji in my travels and they have the absolute best.  A few years ago, they added Chimichurri which is also fantastic.  If you have room left, their desserts are not to be passed up if not, take a portion to go.

Last night we had a platter with smoked and BBQ meats including Anticuchos(Link), Chicken, Steak and Lechon(pork) and my personal favorite, their home-made sausage with Fries and Patacones(Link).  It serves 3 and we took a lot of food home with us.  Made for a delicious lunch.
